The Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB) is a large, complex and very active student organization charged by the Division of Student Affairs (a) to create opportunities for students to connect with the university and meet other students, (b) to establish traditions that make meaning of a student’s experience and (3) to encourage students to stay on campus after class. Research has shown that these are all key factors in the retention of students from their first to second year and from their first year to graduation. SAPB’s mission is “making college life happen” by implementing programs that meet the needs of IU Indianapolis's diverse student populations. There are five executive officers for SAPB: President, Vice President of External Affairs, Vice President of Administration, Vice President of Membership and Vice President of Marketing. They establish and maintain partnerships with university staff, other student organizations and various campus partners to help achieve their programming goals. Executive officers receive a stipend for their participation in SAPB.
