Undergraduate students.
You can access your Record anytime, anywhere you have an Internet connection. Review these instructions.
You can use this information to frame a cover letter and resume for your professional job search, to discuss these experiences during an interview, or to include information in your applications to graduate and professional school.
A resume is very important, however, we recommend NOT submitting your printed Record to employers or graduate programs. Instead, try to include the information from your Record in your resume, cover letter, and any applications you may submit to employers and graduate programs. You can also reference the information in your Record during interviews. For example, if a prospective employer asked you in an interview, “Tell me about a time when you had to do something that was challenging and where you had to solve problems,” use this opportunity to reference an experience on your Record.
Your transcript shows the credit-bearing classes you took and the grades achieved in those classes. The Record shows your involvement in a lot of different engaged learning experiences – in the classroom and outside the classroom (e.g. experiences in the community, experiences within the Division of Student Affairs, etc). The Record was designed to document opportunities where you engaged in an experience that required some extra time and effort, where you had to solve a challenging and perhaps authentic problem, where you had to innovate, where you had to contribute to a community organization or institution, and/or where you had to communicate what you did and accomplished to a broader audience.
Either you have not yet completed a Record-bearing experience, or your instructor or program director has not yet reported your completion. Use our search tool to see if your opportunity is on the Record. If it is an approved experience, contact your instructor or program director.
Experiences may be added any time after you complete them. However, many instructors and program directors enter students at the end of the semester, at the end of the academic year, or at the end of a summer program. It could take 1-2 months to see you experience in the Record after you complete it. Contact your faculty or program director if you have questions.
If you are certain you participated in an experience within a course or outside of the classroom that should be on the Record, please email record@iupui.edu. In this note, please provide as much information as possible about your experience (e.g., was it a course or something outside of a course? When did it occur? Who was your instructor, supervisor, or mentor?)
Faculty and program directors are responsible for adding experiences to the Record. They also enter students after they complete an experience. If you completed an event that is not listed on the Record, but you think it should be, please reach out to record@iupui.edu, and encourage your faculty or program director to apply to be added.
