The Life-Health Sciences Internship Program (LHSI) Ambassadors are alumni of LHSI who recruit and prepare internship applicants and provide guidance to current interns. LHSI Ambassadors assist interns in completing and understanding academically-relevant engaged learning opportunities designed to connect classroom learning, practical experience, and career exploration in a professional setting. Ambassadors gain and apply transferable skills and explore their own professional identity while in this position. Ambassadors design and lead professional development to help interns understand their learning experiences at their site, to make connections of what they are learning at their site to the classroom, and to engage with their internship peers. All LHSI alumni who have successfully completed the LHSI program and are still undergraduates (typically juniors and seniors) are eligible to apply. An ambassador may work a second year as a Senior Ambassador. Ambassadors work in the LHSI office and interact with other Ambassadors, LHSI Program Director, faculty, staff, interns, and potential and/or current applicants. This experience gives ambassadors a chance to develop a deeper understanding of their professional image while working as a team. LHSI reflection is centered on the electronic Personal Development Plan (ePDP), a guided electronic portfolio. LHSI Ambassadors complete the same reflection activities as the interns throughout the year, incorporating their insights from their experiences as a previous intern and now as a LHSI Ambassador.
