This course in the Herron School of Art and Design is designed to give senior level students experience in independent processes and/or experiences that fall outside of traditional classroom teaching. Students fulfill a professional internship in a professional context related to photography. Each internship must be approved by a faculty advisor prior to its start. Students must register for the course in advance of doing the internship. Minimum 150 hours, during fall or spring semester, maximum 15 hours per week. Summer internships may be full time. The course provides a faculty mentor who can be a liaison with the on-site supervisor/employer, as well as a peer support group and a context for structured reflections. The course is on-campus. The internships that students are doing will mostly be off campus, but some on campus opportunities might be identified. Enrollment in this course, which supports students performing internships, is uncompensated. Students may undertake either compensated or uncompensated internships.
