Hydrologic sciences attempt to refine our understanding of the patterns and processes of water movement, storage and transformation (e.g., evaporation and transpiration) in the environment. It focuses on how landscape characteristics (including human modifications) and weather influence the transformation and movement of water on the earth’s surface. In this experience students will work with the community partner Reconnecting to Our Waterways (ROW) to evaluate the effects of stream bank restoration on stream health. ROW is a collective impact initiative that has worked purposefully since 2012 to change the quality of life and ecology along Indianapolis waterways and surrounding neighborhoods [ourwaterways.org].
