In an effort to foster a culture of innovative and creative thinking in the undergraduate experience, the Jaguar Challenge was created within the existing summer bridge and first-year seminar experience. This experience embeds elements of design thinking, problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and creativity into the traditional college transition curriculum. Student work is highly collaborative, allowing students to develop skills related to communication and teamwork while building authentic community. Experiential and community-engaged learning help add relevance and allow students to practice these skills in real-world settings, while identifying their own strengths and building motivation. Offered through the First-Year Experience in the Institute for Engaged Learning, this experience begins during the summer and continues into the Fall semester.
