The Building Manager provides high-level support to professional staff members with a high degree of responsibility in the area of facilities management. These students provide general management and oversight of the 261,000 square foot Campus Center and all meetings and special events taking place within. They also assist with building security and emergency procedures and support the work of student employees in six work areas. A student will have typically worked at least two semesters for CCSE before stepping into the Building Manager role, though exceptions have been made. Students must apply and interview for the Building Manager role and must have previously demonstrated excellence in their “entry-level” CCSE position. Building Managers gain valuable experience in the following: task coordination and management; decision-making; problem-solving; verbal and written communication, including report writing; crisis/emergency management; customer service, including communication skills related to working with difficult or unsatisfied customers; accountability, including assessing work performance, providing constructive feedback, identifying training needs and implementing skills training.
